As healthcare continues to evolve, understanding data has become increasingly critical to being able to make timely, informed decisions. At City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, we replaced traditional data silos and manual processes with a data culture mindset and modern approach to managing our data and facilitating research.

Given the complexity of today’s healthcare landscape, it’s more important than ever to have real-time data to make informed decisions.  Lehigh Valley Health Network is using the power and intelligence of Tableau, the expertise of its Enterprise Analytics team, and the data of Epic to deliver fast, clear, and concise analysis that helps provide improved care, reduced cost of care, and improved outcomes for our patients.  We will share how we leveraged Tableau to identify and improve clinical care, the journey we’ve been on, and some of the challenges we still face.

Kaiser Permanente generates vast data assets across clinical care, healthcare delivery operations, insurance, and more. This session covers two journeys with self-service visual analytics within KP: medical imaging and kidney disease care. Both teams use analytics to empower hundreds of clinical and operational users across Southern California to quickly answer ad hoc questions, regularly monitor performance, and proactively manage panels of high-risk patients. We will demonstrate both traditional BI and advanced analytics solutions, ranging from descriptive reporting to predictive modeling.

Treating critically ill children with cardiovascular disease is a daunting challenge for physicians, clinicians and nurses today. Understanding the intensity of the pain and delivering the appropriate care protocols without actionable data insights, and then correlating this with patient outcomes is a 'management by opinion' challenge confronting most children's hospitals across North America.
