'Your data should work for you, not against you'

That's according to Ziv Ofek, CEO and cofounder of MDClone, who will explain best practices to make it so. He will be speaking in a HIMSS25 session and says tech that empowers independent exploring and analyzing of data is a game-changer.

MDClone is a company that aims to transform raw data in a way that impacts real-world healthcare. Through self-service analytics, the company attempts to break down traditional barriers to data access to enable operational, clinical and research teams to explore and act on healthcare information with speed and confidence.

Ziv Ofek is CEO and cofounder of MDClone, in Booth 2664 at HIMSS25, where company executives will be showcasing perspectives from the University of Chicago, Intermountain Health, McGill University and Sheba Medical Center.

Ofec will be speaking at a HIMSS25 session titled "BEYOND Boundaries: Implementation of Telemedicine BEYOND Conventional Care Models," scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, at 3:15 p.m., in Caesars Forum 115. His co-presenters include Dr. Galia Barkai, Dr. Ronen Loebstein and Liat Toderis, RN, of Israel's Sheba Medical Center.

Maximizing resource efficiency

"Their groundbreaking work caught the attention of HIMSS, earning Sheba's team a coveted spot to present their achievements," Ofek noted. "We will highlight how Sheba Beyond is revolutionizing care models to improve patient outcomes and maximize resource efficiency.

"I've watched the Adams Center blossom at Sheba for the last three years, and I continue to be amazed at the way this organization leverages our technology as a change agent to move from a simple idea to actionable workstreams that provide value," he added.

The Sheba team will discuss their innovative approach to high-risk pregnancies. By providing personalized care in the home, they've reduced patient stress, improved outcomes and optimized hospital resources, he said. This success exemplifies the power of integrating data into care delivery, setting a new benchmark for telehealth innovation, he added.

Meanwhile, in the HIMSS25 Exhibit Hall, MDClone's message is simple: Your data should work for you, not against you, Ofek said.

Health system success stories

"Too often, health systems struggle with data silos, slow processes and limited access, preventing teams from making the most of their information," he continued. "We're showcasing real-world success stories from leading health systems that have broken through these barriers to accelerate research, enhance clinical quality and improve operational performance.

"These organizations are not just talking about innovation, they're living it," he added. "In our lounge, you'll discover how they're leveraging cutting-edge approaches to unlock insights, streamline workflows and drive real-world impact."

Ofek will be eyeing a few big technologies this year at the exhibition.

"AI and data are undoubtedly the two biggest themes dominating healthcare this year," he said. "As the industry faces increasing pressure to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs and streamline operations, the ability to transform complex clinical data into actionable insights is more critical than ever.

"Technologies that empower clinicians and researchers to independently explore and analyze data with speed and scale are a game-changer," he continued. "These tools not only support individual decision-making but also foster team collaboration, enabling healthcare professionals to work together more effectively and make informed, real-time decisions that drive tangible results across quality, operations and research."

'You need people and process'

Asked to offer some advice to HIMSS25 attendees, Ofek does not shy away from the task.

"For CIOs and IT leaders, don't forget that technology is only the tool – to truly drive improvement you need people and process," he advised. "Adoption, change management and governance should be a consideration for any technology purchase to ensure it can deliver value successfully and at scale.

"When connecting with vendors at HIMSS, focus on what is actually driving results in the field, not just the promises you'll encounter," he continued. "It's crucial to learn from organizations that are successfully navigating the challenges of transforming data into meaningful outcomes. The systems that deliver measurable impact all the way through adoption will help position your organization to lead the future of healthcare innovation."
